How Pedro Was Convinced To Join Chelsea Not Man Utd

A report has emerged detailing how Barcelona’s Pedro Rodriguez, who looked set to join Machester United after , changed his mind to move to Chelsea FC.

Though the alleged move to the pensioners is yet to be confirmed, Spanish media giants MARCA, were able to confirm that the winger would be moving to Chelsea and not Manchester United whose transfer chief, Ed Woodward travelled to Spain in the hopes of completing Pedro’s transfer.

The pensioners offered an initial fee of €28m with an extra €2m in add-ons while the red devils reportedly offered €25m plus €5m in add-ons of performance related bonuses.

According to the Telegraph UK, Manchester United’s unwillingness to be flexible in their bid allowed Chelsea to sneak past them and steal Pedro from under their noses. (as per 90min.com)
It was reported that Cesc Fabregas was one of those who swung the transfer in Chelsea’s favour after speaking to his former Barcelona teammate while Fabregas’ girlfriend Daniella Semaan, began talking to Pedro’s wife, Carolina Martin about moving to London and not Manchester.

Another reason why Pedro chose the Blues was because of his conversations with Fabregas and Jose Mourinho who talked to the winger directly about the move after first getting permission from Barcelona, while Victor Valdes (still at Manchester United) advised the winger to avoid working with Louis van Gaal after falling out with the united boss last month.

it remains to be seen if Pedro will still move to the red devils or agree to a switch to Stamford Bridge. It is believed that Pedro’s transfer will be announced before the end of this week.

On Thursday, August 20, Barcelona said on their website: “Pedro Rodriguez, with the club’s permission, did not take part in Thursday’s training session in order to resolve his future.”

Pedro has scored 99 goals for Barcelona in 321 apperances. During the 2009–10 season at Barcelona, he became the first player in history to score in six different official club competitions in one season (a feat later matched by teammate Lionel Messi).

Manchester United meanwhile have already sold Angel Di Maria, Rafael Da Silva, Luis Nani and Robin Van Persie this summer while Barcelona has added Arda Turan and Alex Vidal to their ranks though both players cannot play for the club till January due to a FIFA imposed transfer ban.
