FOOTBALL: Guinea won’t be pushovers

Ikechukwu Ibenegbu

Super Eagles attacking midfielder, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has said his side are expecting tough challenge from their Guinean opposite, Syli Nationale at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda.

Eagles will confront the West Africans in Tuesday’s last group game at the 5000 seats Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu.

Ibenegbu said his side will certainly brush aside the Guineans opposition for the desired quarterfinals ticket.

“No team is pushover here at the ongoing African Nations Championship in Rwanda even Niger we beat 4-1 were too tough not to talk of the Tunisians.

“So we are not expecting any cheap match in the championship not against Guinea on Tuesday in Rubavu.

“Guinea are difficult side and will come all out to chance claiming the three points to go through to the quarterfinals.

“At least a point against Guinea will cement a quarterfinals spot for us but we will not settle for draw rather go for outright victory.

“Victory will give us a firm hold at the top and serve as signal of our intention to claim the top prize at the end of the day,” said the Warri Wolves ace to supersport.com.

Nigeria need at least draw to go through to the quarterfinals while Guinea need outright win to qualify for the last eight.

Eagles lead the group on four points followed by opponents, Guinea on two points same as Tunisia while Niger are at the base on one point.
