Flying Eagles midfielder Obinna Nwobodo is a happy man again after the successful treatment of his damaged cruciate ligament.
Nwobodo damaged his knee during the final of the 2015 African Youth Championship against Senegal which ruled him out of the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.
The Enugu Rangers midfielder returned to the country on Friday, July 31 after undergoing successful surgery at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha, Qatar.
Speaking to NFF.com the 18-year-old thanked the Nigeria Football Federation for taking care of him.
“I was to say a very big ‘Thank You’ to the NFF for the efforts made concerning my surgery," Obinna said.
"I want to use this opportunity to tell the world that the story about NFF abandoning injured players is untrue.
“I was well taken –care of in Qatar and the doctors were wonderful.”
According to the NFF website, the doctor who attended to the midfielder, Dr. Philippe Landreau has advised the player to stay off football for the next six months for the anterior cruciate ligament to fully heal.
